The anchor date is a placeholder date that positions (or anchors) the start date of a schedule rotation in your Shift Profiles. Using this effectively can help reduce confusion for complex rotations as well as simpler recurring shift patterns.
Important things to note:
If your work pattern or rotation is 7 or 14 days long, we recommend choosing a start day that falls on the day of the week your pay periods or pay weeks begin. If your rotation is not 7 or 14 days, and involves multiple shifts (such as A, B and C shifts, or A, B, C and D shifts) we recommend that you choose a start date that aligns with the last A shift that occurred.
Getting Started:
First navigate to ePro Scheduler > Scheduling Admin > Manage Shifts > Configure Defaults.
On this page you will have the option to update the default Anchor Date as well as the standard Shift Length that will auto populate when creating new shift positions within a Shift Profile.
Once you have updated the fields, you will click the green 'Save' button. In this example, we have chosen an anchor date that falls on a Sunday.
The Anchor Date in Action:
The following Shift Profile contains an example of a 6 day schedule rotation where the employee works two 24 hours shifts followed by 4 days off. The Anchor Date is set for Sunday 07/09/2017. This means the rotation pattern begins on this date (in our example 07/09/2017) but will revolve to restart on a different day each week or pay period.
Here you can see how the schedule will look in the following pay periods as it rotates every 6 days.
08/13/2017 - 08/26/2017
08/27/2017 - 09/09/2017
09/10/2017 - 09/23/2017
Helpful Tips or Tricks:
You can also view the rotation as it will play out in a month view by clicking the radio button in the shift profile shown here:
This allows you to toggle back and forth through each month to see how this rotation will play out over time.
